Two Harkonnen sisters fight forces that threaten the future of humanity and found a legendary sect known as the Bene Gesserit. Whether they’re exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are all about science fiction. This series uses material from the Great Schools of Dune trilogy by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. The prequel to the original Dune tells how the Brotherhood of Rossak evolved into the Bene Gesserit. The case where Valya Harkonnen uses the voice is from one of the « Mentats of Dune ». All three books intertwine with the development of the Brotherhood, the Mentats, the Navigators and the Suk Doctors. Referred to in Crazy Cartoon Cast: The New Normal (2020) by AniMat. I don’t want to criticize only the first episode of the TV series, but this was just average on every level. The acting was below average, with the exception of some of the more well known actors like Mark Strong, Emily Watson, Olivia Williams and maybe Travis Fimmel. The rest of the Cast looked like they had just dropped out of a film academy or something. The story was very loose and the dialogue was not worth the dunes. I love slow dramas that take forever to build because I know the payoff is worth the wait. But this wasn’t just slow, there was a lot going on, but it was just boring, I don’t know how else to put it. The soundtrack that raged in the movies was a bit stolen here, familiar voices were heard here and there, but the timing was not good. I listened to a lot of music here that had no effect. I remembered how long in the movies we would go with people just talking and then boom, Hans Zimmer does his magic and I got so excited. But I know he didn’t make any noises here and I don’t even need to check it. I’m not sure if Denis Villeneuve was involved in this production, I hope not. My question is, did he appreciate doing it? After two epic movies, will such a regular TV show affect the long-awaited third movie? I wonder why The Penguin was so good that it made me appreciate Batman even more than I did after watching it, and I can’t wait for the second movie. So how would Dune: Prophecy affect the third film, if at all. Food for thought.
